Clara Aguilar (Logroño, 1997) is an art historian from the University of Barcelona (2020), with a Master’s in Artistic Production from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (2022) and a postgraduate degree in Thought and Scenic Creation from ESADCyL (2024). Her work straddles theory and practice, and is defined by the hybridisation of languages: from words to dance, from video to sculpture or installation.
Her research primarily explores the fields of memory, domestic archives, the politics of affect, and childhood imagination, through the use of visual language, material experimentation, and performativity. Using recordings of everyday scenes, video becomes an experimental process for shaping narratives. Todas las aves viajan hacia el sur [All Birds Travel South] (2021) is her first short film, followed by Ayer fue un instante [Yesterday Was a Moment] (2022) and La distancia exacta [The Exact Distance] (2024), which premiered at Madrid’s Cineteca during the Márgenes Festival. In parallel, Clara Aguilar collaborates with the film festival Los trabajos y las noches, held in Logroño, which is dedicated to showcasing avant-garde cinematic proposals from across Spain.
