Marla Jacarilla


Marla Jacarilla (Alcoy, 1980) is a visual artist, writer, and film critic. She develops her work through techniques such as performance, video art, writing, and installation. Her practice explores the relationships between visual art, new technologies, and literature, resulting in fragmented narratives infused with fiction that the viewer is invited to reconstruct.

She has exhibited at institutions such as MACBA, Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Fabra i Coats Centre d’Art Contemporani, Centre d’Art La Panera, La Capella, Santa Mònica, Fundación Joan Brossa, Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Conde Duque, and Centre del Carme, among others.

Throughout her career, she has received grants such as the Fundación BBVA video art grant, the Fundación Guasch Coranty grant, and Bòlit Mentor, and has been recognized in initiatives such as Art Nou. She has held residencies at centers including Hangar, Fabra i Coats Fàbrica de Creació, and Nauestruch. She also leads creative writing workshops, is part of the editorial team of the film magazine Filmtopia, and is a member of the Col·lectiu de Recerca Audiovisual 1080, based at Santa Mònica.
