Yago Alcover Pujol

Yago Alcover (Barcelona, 1984) is a filmmaker, teacher, researcher and musician. He is currently developing his doctoral thesis at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra focused on the development of research through analog filmic practices in contemporaneity.

She is a member of the Board of Directors of Crater-Lab since 2019, a laboratory of creation, production, experimentation and independent film projection, self-managed by artists and filmmakers. Its objective is to promote the production of an artisanal cinema on film support, focused on generating the material bases to create and experiment in all its processes (filming, developing, copying, animation, plastic intervention, projection, etc).

As a filmmaker, his work moves from experimental practices on the archive, in camera-less film formats, research with handmade emulsions and, more recently, expanded cinema. She has made several short films and audiovisual pieces in collaboration with other artists from different fields. Some of her works are in distribution within Hamaca's catalog, with whom she has also collaborated in the realization of a 16mm experimental film workshop entitled 'Revisiting the Territory: Obsolescent Aesthetics as Forms of Resistance' which addresses analog film as a device that maintains a multitude of potentialities from various perspectives, both as a creative element, as a political tool and as a resistant device.
