Hamaca is part of the DINAMO network of independent distributors, dedicated to the preservation and diffusion of experimental audiovisual. Once again this year, IFFR provides a space for screenings, which in this edition thinks together the concept of disinformation with a program of works that confront intellectual or linguistic modes of experience, appeal to the sensory or bodily experience, evoke pre/non-linguistic states, states of irrationality or non-Western modes of knowledge production.
In this framework, we accompany the international premiere of Caballito, a work by author Claudia Claremi, which conveys a ritual of mourning, as well as a celebration of life, through the process of recording and editing that portrays her dog during its last day of life.
In parallel to this screening, we present the video La vuelta de Olmo Cuña in an exhibition installation at the OX.space cultural center. This piece documents the action of circling the island of Janitzio in Mexico, and contrasts two views in a literal way: one from the inside of the island, towards the outside, and the other from the lake, towards the inside; visitor and visited. The confronted images refer to the dynamics of tourist consumption, in which both the inhabitants of a place and its visitors are participants. +info soon!
