Selected works from the call for video submissions.

Following a meeting of the jury, composed of Elena Duque, Vicente Monroy and Marianela Vega, 31 videos by 19 artists and 2 collectives have been selected in the call for the expansion of the Hamaca archive. The selected works will be catalogued, disseminated and distributed at national and international level by Hamaca on a non-exclusive basis, and may form part of screening, research or training programmes.
The 251 works by 135 creators submitted to the Hamaca call reflect the diversity and singular character of recent audiovisual practice produced in the Spanish context. The jury has sought to reflect this plurality in its selection, giving space both to established voices and emerging talent, in line with the commitment of the Hamaca archive. The presence of analogue formats can be highlighted, alongside an originality in the use of digital tools. Also prominent is the reflection on contemporary issues such as migration, queer perspectives, feminism and environmentalism. Many works operate at the scale between body and territory, while others explore abstraction and the plasticity of image and sound. Attention has also been given to the archive and the recording of recent history from the standpoint of dissent. Balancing playful gesture with rigour, we believe the selection reflects a historical moment of creative effervescence.
