A couple that talk without moving their lips. Telepathy is not an exact science. From what we cannot hear (we read and we see) they are not trying to communicate, they are trying to express the pain and distance caused by their social obligations, work and money. The work of Marta de Gonzalo and Publio Pérez Prieto reflects on the social from the standpoint of the personal, the intimate, the everyday. By means of actions, objects, texts and videos, the artists fight with the weapons of poetics for a positive change in the individual and those around her. The neatness in their work stems from a specific position by which art is a sensible method of analytical research, not something to do with formal expressivity. This video is a clear example of the assumption of a critical conscience of one’s own through art: the manifestation of the invisible conditioning mechanisms for which we have been educated. Within this sober proposal for an artistic experience (the shots are beautifully framed, those of empty spaces as well as those momentarily occupied) a certain utopia is suggested, that of the possibility of modifying the individual, or at least, of thinking of oneself as such, as a modifyable subject in an ongoing state of construction.
