FILMS AND COMPLAINTS

April 21, 2026

Session #8 of Passar la tarda! Pelis i ocurrències
Monthly Program of workshop-meetings at marcablanca (Madrid)

Caucus Fuengirola (Agustín Parejo School, 1986) is the documentation of the ''Caucus'' action carried out in Fuengirola on January 4th, 1986, which consisted of a parody of an election campaign stripped of all references to political identity: ''valid for any party in any circumstance''. A candidate in a political election walks through the streets of a city accompanied by a group of employees who put up posters and paint graffiti, and by a car covered in stickers that continuously broadcasts the message ''Vote Moreno'' over a loudspeaker, while throwing stickers. The action, carried out as part of a conceptual day called Propuesta Cero (Proposal Zero), is complemented by a rally by candidate Moreno that was not ultimately recorded on video.

Agustín Parejo School resorts to the strategy of misdirection and, in this, as in many of its actions, uses public space as a place of appearance and as institutional heritage. It was an artistic action group whose works were carried out in different media (video installation, action, posters, postcards...); from the early 1980s onwards, it attempted to highlight the conflictive nature of the physical space where it carried out its activities - Malaga.

Happening → While we discuss the film, we will make posters by hand with our political, urban, emotional, and artistic demands for the neighbourhood. Then, we will go out and put them up around the area.
