This is one of the most exquisite pieces by Cerveró. It is also one of his most theoretical, due both to the extremes to which he takes his aesthetic meditation on the material of film, as well as to the way in which his raw material: “reality”, is transformed as it passes before the camera’s eye. Recurrent themes in the oeuvre of the artist, such as the association of love feelings with the idea of creation, rock melodies as the essential soundtrack, and death as the last sculptor of the work of art, reappear in this visual poem filled with geometry and a tender melancholy.

The piece is composed of three parts, a constant choice of this author, who prefers odd-numbered realities to games of doubles. Extremely beautiful visual resources are used to refer to the personal associations we all make linking the body, music and memory. The physicality of love, enveloped within the accompanying melodies, is shown in improvised drawing compositions using record covers and photographs of naked bodies. The aesthetic game of fragments and bidimensionality proves efficacious in generating a very specific mental state for us. It is quickly contrasted with open shots, from the outside, “alive” shots of a horse. The references are to those two spheres which we sometimes feel divided into: culture and instinct.

Once again, Cerveró’s interest in conciliating reality and fiction seeps through, as well as the suspicion that both share common and exchangeable territory.

Cerveró is one of the Spanish video artists with the most international presence. He has worked in advertising, as well as video art, documentaries, music videos and experimental cinema.
All of his works, regardless of their final format, share a common search for an anti-form or an anti-style, which has become the artist’s signature feature. All the pieces show, with more or less intensity, Cerveró’s preoccupation for reconciling reality and fiction, creation and everyday life. Within his latest works, the acclaimed new title sequence (since 2006) for the cultural programme Metrópolis in TVE2, stands out.
