An old couple lays naked in bed. They are portrayed in black and white, and in the background we hear a fado. Their stories are written in the wrinkles of their skin, as if, in the play of skin juxtaposed by the framing, we were exploring from above, with a deliberately simple and sweet gaze, the paths traced in their bodies. In this video, the gaze explores without any preconceptions, it allows the images to speak for themselves, to speak of the lives they once belonged to.

On this occasion the bodies are shown devoid of any external element, the only exception being the lipstick on the woman’s lips. These are two integral nudes with skin as the only absolute presence occupying the screen, something which prevents any distractions. The two bodies are presented in their constituting principles, generally related to the as yet potential power of their organicity. The formal nature of the abstracted skin, the surface, which is part of the reality of things, is the essence of the possibilities of the bodies. A formal and material nature which obeys the images created by the external senses, even though, on the other hand, breathing in those movements on the skin is the soul, together with its natural history, its principles and experiences. This is a journey through the composite forms and the elements that compose them, him and her; knowing that the nature of the bodies contains more than just extension and movement, namely, the intuition of something intimate. Two beings that become common to all due to a lack of gestures, allowing the spectator to contemplate an image as if it was a mirror reflecting an immediate future, or as the micro-portrait of someone close, rather than as the representation of someone other. This video brings us together with the beauty of the particular and its diversity, which in this case is relegated due to the intensity of the gaze, providing a truth devoid of pretensions and rhetoric.
