Juan Pablo Ballester


Catalan artist with Cuban origin who also has been active as a curator and programmer. Regularly presents his work in personal exhibitions: Galería Marta Cevera, Madrid (1997), Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (CAAC), Sevilla (2002); Gallery Tomás March, Valencia (2004), Museo Pablo Serrano, Zaragoza (2005).

He has been involved in curatorial projects such as Transgenéric @ s. Representations and experiences about gender, society and sexuality in contemporary Spanish art, Mitxelena, San Sebastian (1998), Inter / area, Palau de la Virreina, Barcelona (2001); Ofelias and Ulysses, 4 International Venice Biennale (2001) Fallen Heroes. Masculinity and Representation, Espai d'Art Contemporani de Castelló (EACC), (2002), New technology, new imagery, new picture. Photograph of the 80s and 90s in the National Museum collection Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Palma de Mallorca, Cuenca (2004).

His work is part of numerous public and private collections that are among the Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst, Aachen, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid; Fonds National d'Art Contemporani, Paris; Howard Farber Collection, New York.
