The aim of this piece is to create the unity of “Space” by means of the use of light. Space of memory. Space of culture. Immaterial space. Space of simulation.
Light is here understood as pure existence. Stained glass windows are reinterpreted as invisible translucent walls, made up of visible shapes, images that have been chosen according to an iconographic programme with the intention of communicating something, the most complete figurative cycle of the History of Art.
The mentioned image is varied in signification: real and conceptual, visible and intelligible, as well as spiritual.
In virtual reality we traverse the outside of the image in order to encounter the inside of an iconographic world, where simulated images of another reality are presented to us. The membrane we cross is a self-beaming wall, just like the stained glass window.
The action in this video develops within the historic domains of the cathedral’s cloister. The camera manages to capture the subtle energies of this sacred setting and both levels of material and immaterial information. At the end of the video, a new virtual tour of the space of the cathedral takes place, whereby the codes of the windows’ imaginary are located, so that we can enter each of the elements of the visual discourse. The stone wall is hereby turned into a transitable image.
